Barbora Wetterova
SPORTS TRAILING TRAINER
NETHERLANDS
Since 2023, I have been a member and K9 handler with North Carolina Search Dogs, a non-profit organization that supports law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management agencies in searches for missing persons. I actively participate in real-world search and rescue missions both as a ground searcher and as part of a K9 team.
In the same year, I completed the certified NCEM Land Search Field Team Member (NC-8100) course, focused on wilderness search and rescue, land navigation, search operations, survival, field communications, and other key skills required for search and rescue deployments. This training meets the national standards of ASTM F2209 and NIMS Wilderness Search Technician.
In 2024, my dog and I earned the Level 2 Field certification from American Mantrailing, Police & Work Dog Association (AMPWDA) for search and rescue dogs. In 2025, I also completed specialized courses led by Je Schettler and Quiana Ramos through GAK9, earning the certifications Urban Level 1 Trailing Handler and Urban Level 2 Trailing Specialist.
I regularly participate in training sessions, real-world deployment simulations, and joint exercises with emergency management agencies, law enforcement, fire departments, and other rescue services. My primary focus is on search strategy, trailing, and working with search and rescue dogs.
As part of my work with North Carolina Search Dogs, I have also assisted in training other team members and helped beginner handlers learn the fundamentals of trailing dog work, including guiding and handling a dog during a track, scent article work, and basic search protocols.
