JULIE TIEDTKE
TRAINER
GERMANY
My passion for mantrailing began in the autumn of 2013.
With my former dog Rocky, I was looking for a natural activity where he could follow his instincts while also being mentally stimulated. Even back then, I was fascinated by the impressive performance of dogs working in teamwork with their handlers. I wanted to learn more, get a deeper understanding, and continue developing my skills.
Over the years, I attended numerous seminars with renowned trainers such as Jeff Schettler, Ester van Summeren, Hans Mergits, Rebecca Dudas, Glenn David Poole, Christoph Rosenberger, Konni Kondritz, and of course Anja Lausberg. With my Australian Shepherd female, Holly, I have successfully achieved the certifications Field Level 1, Rural Level 1, Suburban Level 1, as well as Urban Level 1 and Level 2.
Since 2013, I have been training with Anja Lausberg and, through regular trailing work, have gained extensive practical experience. Today, I am active in mantrailing about five times a week in various roles: I train my own dogs with Anja, co-lead the search and rescue team of Einsatztrailer Rhein Ruhr e.V. together with her, and lead my own training group.
A particularly special experience for me was being entrusted with training Anja’s dog, K9 Hummel. Together, they successfully achieved Urban Level 3. It is a unique feeling and a great honor when your own trainer places such trust in you and allows you to train their dogs.
What fascinates me most about trailing is the individuality of each dog. Every team develops its own communication, its own rhythm, and its own personal style. This special feeling of working together with your dog, going “on the hunt,” and experiencing the trail has completely captivated me. It is this passion and this unique experience that I want to share.
