KIRSTEN MOORE
Trainer
Kirsten Moore is a GEMA licensed SAR K9 handler residing in Winterville, GA.
After years spent in professional obedience training and competing in various dog sports, she decided to check out the working dog side of things in attending a NAPWDA workshop with a fellow trainer/decoy friend in 2019. Thus the spark became a flame! A few more workshops and discovering a love for search and rescue, Kirsten invested in her own working dog, a Belgian Malinois named Carrera. While early on they dipped their toes into the sport of Mondioring, both knew their strength was in tracking and trailing. Once joining Central Georgia K9 Search & Rescue in 2020, they’ve been full time members dedicated to proofing their skills in finding missing people, which led them to meeting Shayne Schettler and the GAK9 team in taking a handler course with the team in 2021. A year later, Kirsten came to join the team at the Canton location for 6 months to which she studied tracking, trailing, and detection under Shayne Schettler, Jeff Schettler, Sinead Imbaro. From eager intern to becoming an instructor for our K9 handler courses and owning and operating GAK9 Athens, Kirsten continues to build her reputation as a skilled trainer in many respects. The dynamic duo, Kirsten and K9 Carrera, are certified through not only multiple levels via GAK9, but NAPWDA and NNDDA as well!
In addition to her professional involvement in dogs, Kirsten fosters with the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue and has long been a volunteer with local shelters. On the rare occasion she is not training or hanging/hiking/ competing with her 5 dogs, you can find Kirsten at car events such as cars and coffee, drifting or traveling for Formula 1 races!
